I.Q.M. Wins the MAATS 2004 NMMA Innovation Award

One of the industry's most prestigious honors, the NMMA Innovation Awards, presented at MAATS, recognize exceptional distinction and excellence in new products. Judged by a panel of experts from BWI, the NMMA Innovation Awards acknowledge the importance of technological advancement and encourage manufacturers to continue pursuing new product developments that benefit the boating consumer.

Dear I.Q.M.,

When I decided to repower my 29’ Luhrs I knew exactly what engines to use. Having chosen Yanmar, the best marine diesel engines on the market, I wanted to make sure my final installation matched the quality of the engines I had picked.

Before I even removed my old tired gas engines from my boat, I had already gathered most of the material I felt I needed for a successful project. The most important purchase I made, beside the engines, was a set of 8 Way Engine Mounts. Once I had my old engines out of the boat I proceeded to rebuild the bilge.

With the bilge clean and a fresh coat of gel coat applied I was now ready to install my 8 Way Mounts. With a homemade engine jig and a few measurements off the new engines, I was able to install all 8 Mounts in a couple of hours. Given the adjustability of the 8 Way Mounts, I felt very confident that I could have the engines lowered in the bilge.

As I expected, by leaving the 8 Way Mounting bolts loose I was able to drop the engines on the stringer and within just a couple of minutes free up the fork lift. Because the installation went so smoothly I was offered a reduced rate on the fork lift. Once the engines were set in place I was able to get the engines aligned in just under an hour.

The total repower took me less than two weeks part time and I have to say the 8 Way Mounts made the installation a dream. I am comfortable taking my boat 40 miles off shore and not worrying about what is going on down in the bilge.
